SUMMARY STATEMENT:

• The Mechanical Overhaul Engineer is responsible for providing accurate technical assistance and co-ordination during overhaul and/or modifications of the company or customer products in liason with Project Manager Mechnical.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
• Liase with Project Manager Mechanical in all overhaul/components repairs.
 
• Determine and provide consistent requirements and standard procedures for mining equipment overhaul / component repair
 
• Direct and provide the activities to workshop managements, to carry out procedures with regards to customer requirements coupled with our company standards and expectations.
 
• Anticipate and propose necessary facilities, product changes, modifications to satisfy above.
 
• Act as an assistant technical consultant to the:
 
 Fitting/Machining Manager
 Fabrication Manager
 Supply and Inventory Manager
 
• Supervise the initiation of the previous points as listed to ensure success of project in hand.

 
 
• Assist in product development/feasibility/costs from inception to completion stage.
 
• Liaise in scheduling of projects.
 
• To co-ordinate on matters relating to acquisition of materials/spare parts.
 
• To assist in co-ordination with the necessary engineering services to continued quality improvement.
 
• Product Engineering - Providing optimum information, services, technical data.
 
• Supply / Inventory Department - Provide properly selected lists and layouts of required materials / parts.
 
• Manufacturing - Provide accurate information, equipment selection lists, adequate planning layouts to produce maximum efficiencies.
 
• General - Maintaining contracts with appropriate sources to assure utilisation of best techniques.

• All areas where specific authority is delegated by the Quality Assurance Procedures and Work Instructions

EDUCATION:

• Fitting / Machining Trades Certificate
 

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE DESIRABLE:

• Experience in the repair / overhaul of general engineering products

• Experience in the co-ordination for repair / overhaul of heavy underground mining equipment

• Knowledge of hydraulic circuits and applications coupled with hands-on experience
 
• Knowledge of longwall coal mining systems
