It is project manager’s responsibility to build an efficient team when he is in charge of a project. An efficient team means that every team member is a co-author of the project; he works hard for the project and feels happy working within the team.
But imaging a team would be efficient naturally as it is formed is not a reality. Project manager should pay much more effort to build it and manage it. Followings are some tips to build such a team:
First, selecting the right people. Even though most of time project manager can only chose person form a limited resource----the people in their company, they also could get right people by the networking and by negotiating. Project manager should understand what kind of person is suitable for this project by analyzing the project‘s character or feature.
Second, being transparent. Telling all team members what is the goal of the project and everyone’s ROI. Publishing the regulations of team work and the process of decision making. These would make the team member buy-in the project manager’s decision and become a co-author.
