中国第一个迪斯尼主题乐园－－香港迪斯尼乐园2003年1月13日下午在香港竹篙湾正式动工。这不仅代表着香港旅游业将迈进一个新纪元，也是美国华特·迪斯尼公司发展的一个重要里程碑。香港特区行政长官董建华出席了动工仪式。

华特·迪斯尼公司兼行政总裁迈克·艾斯纳兴奋地指出，迪斯尼乐园13日动工，不仅实现了该公司与特区政府共同为港人发展主题乐园及度假区的承诺，也将第一次把家喻户晓的迪斯尼经典故事带到了世界上人口最多的国家。

      香港迪斯尼乐园预计于2005年9月12日开幕。它座落于香港北大屿山，占地126公顷，第一期工程包括每年可供1000万游客参观的迪斯尼主题乐园、2100个酒店房间以及各种购物、饮食和娱乐设施。

      1999年11月，香港特区政府与华特·迪斯尼公司宣布，合作发展香港迪斯尼乐园。在2003年1月13日之前的18个月内，特区政府已为香港迪斯尼乐园度假区完成了填海、筹备基建及道路配套等工程。而位于美国加州的华特·迪斯尼幻想工程团队（Walt Disney Imagineering ，简称WDI，其中包含作家、艺术家、雕刻家、景观设计师、规划师、工程师、建筑师等,它于1952年在美国加州的阿纳海姆建立，WDI负责世界范围内的迪斯尼乐园筹备、设计和建设。）也在过去两年时间里，与香港建筑师努力不懈，完成香港迪斯尼乐园的初步设计，并已移师香港，为建筑工程动工作好了准备。

      香港迪斯尼主题乐园建设项目工程量巨大，参与的承包商和供应商来自40多个不同国家的，现场建设工人多达5000个。为了能够按期出色地完成如此巨大的项目建设工作，WDI工作人员选用了一系列的管理软件辅助其项目管理工作的开展，主进度计划管理和控制使用Primavera的P3E/C,风险管理使用Petermaster Monte Carlo,同时还使用了Project 4D和TimeLinery进行进度的4D模拟。该项目主进度计划作业数有14000多个，集成的承包商详细计划作业数多达100000。

“项目主进度计划和集成的WDI内部工作计划、所有承包商/供应商计划支撑了一个高效协同工作环境” Frank Addeman(vice president of planning, scheduling, and management controls, WDI)。The detail and summary visibility provided by Primavera helped WDI to set priorities and maintain control of the project.The solution also provides a manpower and progress overview to validate that each contractor has appropriate staffing levels mobilized to support its overall progress requirements. Primavera gives us the visibility to advise our design consultants and contractors when they need to add resources to maintain their schedule progress. This helps them respond at the appropriate time, so we can all be successful.”

      Frank Addeman清楚地认识到，保证所有承包商和供应商按期完成各自地任务对于整个项目按期竣工是至关重要的。“Everything we built affected some subsequent assembly or installation. So it was critical that each vendor met his or her deadlines so the other contractors were not negatively impacted. It’s also important that we know when a problem occurs and have time to react,” he adds. “It’s important to be able to see the domino effect of each schedule milestone change on downstream contractors.When necessary, we can notify impacted vendors and contractors of schedule changes and ensure that all of them are well-informed, appropriately staffed and prepared to deliver their components on time.”

      离9月12日迪斯尼主题乐园开园的时间越来越近了，我们深信Frank和他的华特·迪斯尼幻想工程团队（WDI）一定能实现他们的梦想，让我们拭目以待那个奇迹的如期到来。
