A new year, a new start!

It's never the right time for me to think of what's my next year's plan until I enjoyed the Chinese New Year! This is not the same this year. I was forced to think about as we need to submit my goals for Q1 2007. I realized how time flies!

Year 2006 is a busy year for me.  It was a year of many changes:  passed the PMP test in Jun, changed job in Jul, moving home in Aug, 2wks overseas training in Sept, visiting my hometown in Oct and passed the driving test in Dec!

I was wondering where my future career would like at the beginning of Year 2006.  I got tired of 5 yrs project manager role in a weak matrix organization structure. On the meantime, I enrolled the PMP training and Excellence at the last minute, not thinking of others, I just want to get the PMP certificate. To be grateful that the instructor Mr. Men was a man of knowledgeable and read lots of books so that he was able to explained the concept very clear. From his class, I even link the concept into my project management working case, understood why we made the mistake due to poor Scope management.  Fortunately I passed the PMP test even though I just read twice of the PMBOK.

I switched from Project Management role to Commodity Management in Jul.  I was hired over ten talented candidates and some of them with Sourcing and Supplier Management experience.  I was lucky on one hand; on the other hand I think Project Managers are all well-rounded so that I got the Offer in the end. Think of how many areas Project Managers need to taking care of? Nine! (Scope, Cost, Quality, Time, HR, Communication, Purchasing Integration and Risk).

I’m now on a slightly different path. I’d like to be part of PM team, using this BLOG as a place whether I share my information with you. Welcomes you helping me with the PM organization and contact me for discussion.
